Looking to rent a limo? Read these tips before renting a limousine.
Ask to See The Limo
Check out the limo you plan on renting. Some Limousine rental companies use older limos. You don't want to be surprised on your special day when a '85 limousine shows up when you were expecting a year 2006 model.
Sign a Contract if possible for important events
Reliable and professional limo rental companies should be more than happy to provide you with a signed-contract. Be wary of limo rental companies who won't sign a contract.
Limo Insurance and Permits
All limousines are required to carry commercial livery insurance and proper permits. To protect yourself from cowboys ask for proof of these with your signed contract.
Ask About Limo Industry Associations
Companies who belong to industry associations usually must abide by special insurance regulations and service rules. Reputable associations such as the National Limousine Association (NLA) and the local livery association are good indications that your limo provider does their due diligence. The Better Business Bureau also is a good research source. As sadly complaints about limousine services are frequent.
The Limos been in an accident!
You don't want to be the bride which gets the "The Limos been in an accident" or "We don't appear to have received your reservation" story. Cover yourself by getting a signed contract. Shopping on price alone is dangerous. It has not been known for unethical operators to drop a reservation to pickup a better paying fare.
What Should We Expect To Pay for A Limo Rental?
Limousine rental is between $50 - $150 p/h. Also, most limousine rentals require a minimum hourly booking. In the USA this is likely to be 3 hours in the UK it can be as little as 1 hour. This is due to Limo preparation costs, travel times, and driver salaries. At times of high-demand, such as the spring time - with proms, weddings etc when hourly minimums can inflate beyond 6 hours.
Do We Pay For The Limo While We Attend Our Event?
In the USA and the UK yes, you still have to pay for the rental time during your limo rental even if you aren't physically using the limo. However the price you pay varies depending on whether you want your limo 'on standby' outside your venue or whether it's parked offsite.
