Hair Loss

Do you have Hair Loss?

Hair Loss causes a great deal of distress to many people whilst others adapt more easily. The reasons for this can be as difficult to determine as the reasons themselves but the circumstances and age of a person contribute. Many of the different clinics and medical practitioners have differing views on some of the causes.

Reasons for Hair Loss.

In normal life a certain amount of your hair is being shed in a normal process on a daily basis and this is replaced by new hair growing. If new hair is not replaced or only partly replaced then a nett loss is seen and baldness or semi baldness occurs.

1) Hair Loss increases with age. This is when the hair loss is greater than the new hair replacement.

2) It may be heredited from the family. This type can occur at a young age and then often becomes extensive. The most typical is a receding hairline which is usually an heredited trait.

3) Nervous system problems. A number of things can cause excessive or sudden stress levels which cause excessive hair loss and a cure of the stress is often a cure of the hair loss.

4) Illness and disease. For example fungal infections can cause hair loss in children. Diseases such as diabetes may cause it.

5) Hormone imbalance. If there is an imbalance it may cause the hair to drop out. A restoration of the balance can stop the loss

6) Accidental injury. Again related to the stress or shock problems listed above.

7) Cancer Treatments or other medicines. Chemotherapy, anticoagulants antidepressants and others can all cause hair loss. Normally the hair loss gets better after the treatment is stopped.

Possible Hair Loss Treatments

The hair loss type really decides whether any treatment is possible and the first person to contact should be your medical practitioner.

If it is brought on by medical treatment then the loss may well improve after the treatment has finished. Hormonal imbalance can be cured if the imbalance is correctable. Stress types can be helped by removing the stress.

1) Drug treatment . There are a number of hair loss drugs on the market with varying success. Most try to work by stopping the loss getting worse.

2) Hair Restoring treatment. These can vary from conditioners to shampoos and work differently on every person and may, unfortunately, have no effect at all.

3) Hair Transplants. In many cases the hair loss is so great and will not grow back so a transplant of hair is carried out to redistribute the hair that is left at the back of the head over the rest of the head. It needs doing by a reputable and experienced hair tansplant practice.

4) Wigs. There are a huge range of options that are available in wigs and hair pieces and these run from a wig that may be used on a daily basis to one which may be semi-permanent.

The main thing is to find something that suits you. For many people that is accepting the problem as it is and living with it but there are other choices and some of these can help to solve a serious problem in how people consider themselves and the confidence and happiness with which they approach life.
