There has been a customer advisory from the FTC warning suppliers that they must not claim unreasonable cures for Coral Calcium namely that it must not claim to cure cancer, multiple sclerosis, heart disease and chronic high blood pressure among others.
Coral Calcium was claimed to be a cure all made from a product culled from the sea near Okinawa and said to be the cause of longevity. However the base appears to be mainly calcium carbonate with many trace elements and whilst it may be a calcium substitute other claims do not appear to have been substantiated. This has caused the FTC and the FDA to take action against the claimants and their warnings and details on Coral Calcium can be found on their web sites.
It is now sold as calcium or natural supplement in many health shops although one state has argued that the lead level does not meet their limitations and has stopped sales. If in doubt there are many calcium carbonate tablets which can be used as a calcium supplement for the treatment of Osteoporosis.
